You have to like the fact that Rockstar doesn't shy away from calling their drink "diet". None of that no/low sugar nonsense or even low carb. They came out with diet and it works well for them. The 16 oz. can is an update of the classic Rockstar look which is present in Juiced and Cola varieties as well. The white looks really clean and is a better can in my opinion than the normal black can. Rockstar has been around for so long that I've taken it for granted, but we'll see how well it holds up now that I've tried hundreds of energy drinks. Will it still be the Star of the Party with all this new competition?
Diet Rockstar has the classic energy drink color common to 70% of the drinks out there, that dark apple juice color. When you taste it your first thought is wow, they did a job of making this not taste sugar free at all. But then you drink a little bit more and you think the flavor is so great. As much as I like Rockstar the flavor seems a little dated and just doesn't do as well when you aren't mixing it with alcohol. It's not really sweet, has a tinge of bitterness, and relives that classic energy drink flavor though it's not as gummy as many others. Diet Rockstar starts to remind me of a Keith Richards or Mick Jagger with its flavor. It's past its prime and time to move on. There's plenty of other diet drinks out there so the main reason to stick with Rockstar Diet is if you're a Rockstar fanatic or if you'll be mixing it.
Diet Rockstar excels on the ingredients. There's taurine, maltodextrin, guarana, Vitamin C, caffeine, acesulfame K, sucralose, l-carnitine, inositol, milk thistle, gingko, B Vitamins, and siberian ginseng. That really helps you with the hangover protection and gives a great boost. Their awesome ingredients and great kick give one more reason to keep this aging superstar around.
