Red Jak Low Carb Energy Review

Back from vacation and energy drink withdrawal. I couldn't wait to get down a new drink. I reached in my fridge and grabbed the first one I could find. It was a Red Jak Lo Carb. Nice! I was a big fan of the original Red Jak, when I first tried and it and still use it as one of my go to drinks. The Lo Carb Red Jak has the same basic 16 oz. can design while putting the much used "sugar free" blue in a prominent position. The can doesn't look as nice as the all black, original Red Jak, but is still cool.

The color is almost identical to the dark amber color of Red Jak. My first impression is solid, but it's not as good as the original Red Jak. The Lo Carb version has a little more bitterness to it making it less smooth and it just doesn't go down as well. The subtle caramel and vanilla flavors of the original version which make it a favorite had a hard time getting through in this one. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very good low sugar energy drink but doesn't live up to the impressive reputation of the original.

Of course as a low carb drink there's no HFCS in this drink which is good. However like some other low carb energy drinks there is still some sugar in the form of sugar and dextrose, though it is low enough to make the total calories low. Other key ingredients are caffeine, taurine, glucuronolactone, ginseng, inositol, l-carnitine, B Vitamins, Acesulfame Potasium, and Sucralose. There's a nice 1894 mg taurine which makes for a pretty darn good buzz. I had no problem reacclimating to the home time zone with one of these in me and was able to stay up nice and late. A good option for you calorie conscious energy drinkers.
