Stinger Chronic Cola Energy Review

With the last of the Elements reviewed the other day I thought it was time to hit another last, the last of the Stinger drinks. Really the only truly great Stinger to date has been the Enraged Raspberry, the others have ranged from mediocre to truly awful (Pounding Punch). I thought it would be interesting to try Stinger Chronic Cola and compare it to some of the other cola drinks I've tried. First off is the name, Chronic Cola. It's a great name and really gives you the sense of being wired on energy for a long time. There's nothing like that chronic feeling when you're getting delirious at 5:30 AM. Gotta love that when your buzz has carried you through the whole night. Chronic Cola comes in the classic 8 oz. can and has the same can as the other Stinger drinks, but in red to remind you of Coke. The can looks pretty good, but any cola fan will tell you it's really too small.

Chronic Cola has that classic brown, caramel color of cola. In a glass you probably couldn't tell the difference between it, Coke, Rockstar Cola, Fukola, or Pepsi. The taste is a different story. Chronic Cola is like drinking flat Pepsi. There's not really enough cola bite and more syrup than the classic vanilla flavor in other colas. It's just not interesting too sweet and kind of bland cola. I'd rather stick with Pepsi Energy X, Rockstar Cola or for something a little different, Fukola or Monster Assault.

The ingredients are a obviously an improvement on normal Coke and Pepsi since there are energy ingredients. I also like the fact that they exclude phosphates or phosphoric acid like most other colas. Those ingredients are horrible for your bones, and we all know what happens when your bone fails. The relevant ingredient list includes: HFCS, caffeine, taurine, Vitamin C, B Vitamins, yerba mate, guarana, and ginseng. The kick was pretty good for a cola and definitely kept me up way into the early morning. I got that chronic feeling but just not in heavy doses. I suppose it makes an okay mixer with some jack or rum, but I'd rather stick with Rockstar Cola for that, though bartenders might like the smaller can.
